Moving On {Part 2 of 2}
    No matter what she told herself, no matter how strong she grew, there was no way Dessa could convince herself that she would get through this. She had no one. The one person she had grown close to, she killed. Another, she had kept herself secluded, she wasn’t she Quill would even want to speak to her anymore. And, the one vampire that caught her attention that made her rethink nearly everything, couldn’t find his place within the Realm and had her take his undead life. William was gone. There was no one around to comfort her. And now that she could truly feel again, Dessa found herself craving a companion. Of course, for that to happen, she would have to stop hiding in her room or completely losing herself in training.

    It wasn’t a total waste, the losing herself in training. She was nearly as strong as she had been before her death and she was rising above. She was proud of what she had accomplished so far, but there was still the fact that she was secluding herself. There was just one problem. She didn’t have the will to get out and be sociable. She had to tell herself to snap out of it.

    And so she did.

    Enough was enough. She wasn’t going to spend the rest of her life an antisocial loser who did nothing more than hide out in her room. Instead, she took a shower, did her hair, did her makeup, and for the first time in nearly two months, put on a dress. It felt good it pretty herself up. And later, it felt even better to go out and mingle with people. She forgot all the bad that had happened within the past few months and just enjoyed her time out, completely ignoring this strange urge that surfaced whenever she was near a man who was taken.

    It worried her a little. First because she rarely ever showed interest in anyone; the only person she had ever really thought of more than an acquaintance was Emerick. And now here she was, wanting to get to know anyone who caught her eye. And second, it was only her first night out. She wanted to take things slow and ease herself into being sociable. When she had a moment to think about it, she realized that she never really went out before everything happened, but at least she had always been around people, even if they were mostly vampires. Still, she wasn’t going to dwell on it. She was lonely, everyone seemed appealing for company. Simple as that.

    There was one thing that was bothering her though. Ever since what happened with Sarah, there had been…tension within the coven. Sure, she tried to ignore it, but there was no denying that even though they had to work together, there really hadn’t been much of that going on between her and Jasper.

    Her mind buzzed with the alcohol she’d consumed, she made her way back to the coven. She passed his room on her way to hers, debated for a moment about whether or not she should, while practically fearless, confront him, but logic won out. It would do neither of them any good to get into a fight now. And surely, a fight would be the first thing to happen. But as she crawled into bed, she promised herself that she would make things right with him sometime soon.
