Virelai Tylwyth 10/16/19 It had been a while, a long while, since Vi had gone out and about with her little black book to greet the fresh bodies. The pages of that book contained, not names, but threads of a sort, strings of symbols that led to individuals, which she followed in order to find them. A handy bit of crafted magic if she did say so herself. And she might if anyone asked. They never did though.

She'd missed a few, their markings beginning to smudge, but decided before they vanished she would make the rounds of those that were still identifiable. It was a game she liked to play, you see. Chaos and courtesy. A little bit of give and take. Not that they'd know that themselves. One or two of them she had already met unofficially, but the rest were shiny and new. So she set off with this in mind, black book in hand, pockets full of little envelops sealed with a red spider lily in wax. Old fashioned and perhaps unnecessary. But who she'd yet to meet any – save one – to turn such a thing away.

She approached each of them casually, smiled pretty, moss green eyes gleaming, and handed them the envelop. Courtesy. “I'll be back for this at a later date.” She'd say. Chaos. Whether they did meet again was irrelevant and completely out of her hands. That was the fun of it really. Sometimes they would stop and talk, but most of them just went on their merry way. And that was alright with her. Besides, it was all to play for as far as the Realm was concerned.

Just another means with which to pass the time and that sort of thing suited Vi just fine.
Virelai Tylwyth 10/14/19 "Well, it means that you don't have to find another stranger to kiss, doesn't it?"

For the barest moment, Yule almost regretted the fact that that wasn't true. He was only her fourth encounter in a line of five. But he proved to be one of the most interesting creatures she had met in the Realm thus far. Fascinating. In control. Old in his mannerisms. In his gentleness. It was strange, and yet, perhaps comforting in a way. She had fought recklessly to integrate herself into this society, to understand it and its mechanisms, the constant turning, the strangeness of it all. In order to keep to the shadows, to play the role she was given.

He reminded her of herself when she first arrived in the Realm. She felt a pang in her chest, an emotion she would not for a moment let register, instead allowing it to slip away like a river without a name. She remembered the enjoyment she felt learning new things, exploring the freedom she had fought so hard to gain, and now that freedom was gone. Washed away beneath the waves of her many mistakes that became so much more real the moment she was returned to her body. She would not allow herself to make them again. And so it had all become a game, a game she was determined to continue to play until it brought about either her downfall or her fathers. So she stored whatever thoughts that conflicted with that game away.

Her lips tugged into a subtle smirk and she drew her phone from her jacket pocket, snapping the photo as he brought her hand up in his. The touch of his lips was brief, elegant, unadorned. Simplicity at its finest, gentlemanly, and in a word, adorable. He was sweet, the sort in those movies that would help old ladies across the street and give away his untouched ice cream to a child that dropped theirs. A rare specimen. And if Yule wasn't trying so hard to be the way she was, she might find herself actually enjoying his company.

He returned her hand and she tucked her phone away, not bothering to check that the photograph was adequate. Perhaps this one she would not send. There were others she could get that proof from if need be. He did Yule the courtesy of telling her his name. Jeremiah, one who will be raised. One who is exalted. She wondered how much that name held true for him. “It is a pleasure to meet you, Jeremiah.” Her lilting voice tested the sound of that name and she decided perhaps it would be wise to wait and see if there was truth to it. “You may call me Yule. I do appreciate your assistance. Perhaps we will meet again.”

She paused for a moment and then continued. “Should you ever need something in return, feel free to reach out.” Yule grinned. “All you need do is whisper my name to the wind with me in mind and I will find you.” It was a bit of a joke, at least most would probably take it that way, thinking that perhaps she was being sure they never met again. He would be surprised though, if he actually did such a thing, because Yule never lied. And this was no exception.
Virelai Tylwyth 10/14/19 The man wobbled slightly as Yule grabbed onto him and he shifted his weight to regain his balance, she in turn tightened her grip just slightly, almost imperceptibly, to assist him in finding his center of gravity once again. It could have been out of kindness, that murmuring humanity in the back of her head whispering, Gently, gently, causing her to press her palm beneath his elbow a bit even while she voiced her question.

He listened to her, eyebrows furrowing at her words, knitting across his forehead into a frown. This was certainly different to the reactions she had been receiving. His reply caused a subtle smirk to tug at the corner of her mouth, one which she smothered as quickly as it began to grow. She sniffed suspiciously, inhaling the scent of spice and time far away. Curious that. His words were at odds with his appearance of youth, of course, the same could be said about Yule.

She released his arm and tapped her fingers lightly against her lower lip thoughtfully. The game hadn't stipulated where the kiss needed to be placed. Probably, Harlowe didn't think that would be necessary. Lips was the obvious choice here. Still. She had never been kissed on the hand, couldn't think of any reason why a person would do such a thing. A curious action if there ever was one, but mortals were strange that way. Besides, it wasn't like she was a very good judge of what was and wasn't normal given her limited knowledge. Knowledge that was vast compared to when she first came to the Realm.

“I wasn't in the habit of kissing strangers either until the game.” Yule flashed a bemused grin at the man. “In fact I wasn't in the habit of kissing anybody which is probably why the dare was posed to me.” She had had a total of zero kisses upon returning to the living and now she had had a few, each one a bit different. Surely this one would be no exception judging by the way he reacted to her question.

This man obviously knew about patterns of behavior, customs and actions, that she didn't. The logical thing to do was ask about them. “Why?” She questioned, her voice a low hum rising over the other sounds around them to his ears and his alone. She was intrigued and her thirst for knowledge often rivaled her curiosity. “What does kissing one's hand mean?”

Even as she asked this, Yule's pale, cold hand slid into his. The heat of his skin was an odd juxtaposition to her own. She had only felt something similar to it a few times before and – aside from Harlie – it seemed to play true among the beasts of the Realm. She had yet to meet one with of those strange creatures, those part of her father's pets, that this did not ring true for. And Yule wondered then if he was one of those and whether or not there was any connection. Still, she didn't believe there could be. Her father could not lay claim to every beast she encountered, surely. Otherwise she'd be in a world more trouble than she usually was.
Virelai Tylwyth 10/14/19 Yule moved at odds with the small stream of the early morning populace, mostly human it seemed. The night creatures were less active at this time of day and therefore were easier to sniff out, to sense. The power they exuded was well above those of the ordinary living and she had a sense for such things. And she was on the hunt this morning. If she was going to complete her dare, she wasn't going to do it with some mortal. There was no sense of excitment, no potential danger with them. Humans were easy. The creatures claimed by the Other were far more stimulating.

So when her shoulder brushed against a man moving in the same direction of the tide, though not with them, just outside of them, out of the way and unable – to her eyes at least – to merge with the mundane creatures, she reached out without thinking. Her gloved hand, chilled through the fabric, grasped his arm just as they passed the entrance to an alleyway. The crowd seemed to sputter out, leaving her behind, taking refuge in their places of work and coffee shops, in the buildings rising on all sides of them. She hadn't worked out what to say just yet. But it had been easy enough just explaining with the others, so perhaps that would work here too.

Yule released the man but stood near him as she looked up, tucked a stray strand of silver hair behind her ear, and smiled. Her moss green eyes gleamed like chips of ice on a glassy pool's surface as she looked him over. He would do. “Excuse me, darlin'. Would you mind if I took a moment of your time?” She turned to face him and tilted her head to the side, slanting her gaze upwards. “I'm in a bit of a bind. A friend of mine has set to me a peculiar challenge and I was wondering if you might assist me.”

She pulled a phone from her pocket and brightened her smile just a bit, the image both predatory and curious. “I need to kiss some strangers you see. Upon a dare. My honor is at stake to complete this task but it is a bit more difficult than I anticipated. Would you mind terribly if I gave you a kiss, just a brief one of course, and snapped a photo of it with this nifty device? My friend requires proof of completion. If you would indulge me, I'd be happy to return the favor in some way. Now or perhaps at a later date if you need. I've been told I can be quite helpful in any number of situations. What do you say?”
